Sound healing is a meditative experience where a participant has the opportunity to relax and take in the vibratory benefits of sound instruments.
To some individuals a sound experience can be a very healing practice, while others claim sound healing can help with stress and processing emotions. I invite my clients to take it as it is and see what, if anything, comes from it.
Sound baths can be a helpful tool for regular meditators or those who are new to meditation. They are fun to do in group settings, especially when the participants look at the practice with curiosity rather than expectation.
During a sound experience, participants relax on a yoga mat or chair and use props to make themselves comfortable. We may start with a few light stretches, or simple breath work to open up and warm the body.
Participants then are asked to relax and let the sound instruments guide the mind. Often, crystal singing bowls, Himalayan bowls, tuning forks, chimes and other instruments are used to create an immersed vibrational experience.
The sound experience often ends with waking up the body, and some positive spoken words to finish the practice.
